Nest smoke detectors - worth it or not?

Here's an interesting review on a WiFi smoke detector made from the makes of the Nest thermostat.  

The device is $129 per unit and for a typical 3 bedroom house you'll need 4 or 5 units.  Add that up, it's around $500 to $600 BUT the more you have the more they work together.
